Rapid Product Development studies

Rapid Product Development Master’s Studies is organized this year by HAMK Design Factory and OpenLab at Tampere University of Applied Sciences. The studies are targeted at Master students in the field of engineering and business at HAMK and TAMK, as well as, industry professionals.

Working under pressure of competition and rapid technological changes firms have to decide how to use their limited R&D capabilities in the best possible manner. Therefore, this intensive course in Rapid Product Development (RPD) is organized in leading learning environments that support rapid prototyping and development of product concepts and products for the industry.

The course staff is composed of leading experts in Product Development, headed by Dr. Charles Camarda, NASA astronaut and engineer, founder and CEO of Epic Education Foundation, Principal Lecturer Dr. Antti Perttula from Tampere University of Applied Sciences, Principal Research Scientists Dr. Iivari Kunttu and Dr. Jari Jussila and Research Manager Joni Kukkamäki from Häme University of Applied Sciences.

The course is a continuum of collaboration e.g. between TAMK and NASA and recently also joint research between HAMK, TAMK and NASA. The joint research has been published in ISPIM Connects Ottawa 2019, where you can read more about the Rapid product development methods in practice. Innovative Conceptual Engineering Design (ICED) methodology presented on the course was first introduced in NATO Science and Technology Lecture Series on “Hypersonic Flight Testing”. A Special Issue on Rapid Product Development is also under way.

We are looking forward to an exciting and intensive two months of working together in both HAMK Design Factory and TAMK OpenLab, as well as, online.
