The blog service of Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK) is open to all employees and students of HAMK. The topics of the blogs published in the blog service are in some way related to studying or working at HAMK.
To register a blog, you are required to read the instructions for bloggers and commit to observing them. You will find a link to the registration form for the blog at the end of this page. If you are a member of HAMK staff, remember to mention to your superior that you are going to start blogging.
Naming the blog
You should give your blog a name that stands out among the other blogs and suits the topics of your posts. Google the name to make sure that a blog with the same name does not already exist or that the name is not a registered trade mark.
The address of your blog will be blog.hamk.fi/blogname or an abbreviation of the blog name. The address must not contain any capital letters, Scandinavian vowels, spaces or special characters. Words must be separated by a hyphen (e.g. blog.hamk.fi/rehtorin-toimisto or blog.hamk.fi/global-education).
Tips and advice
Before you start blogging, think about the topics you want to write about, who to, why and when you want to write, and what style you are going to use. Therefore, you should already think about e.g. the first three topics of your blog posts before registering the blog.
If you are not familiar with blogging yet, read blogs written by others or read the guides available online or in the library. See e.g. the list of books written about blogging available in the collections of the library at HAMK.
The blogs will be published using WordPress. You will find instructions for maintaining a blog from HAMK’s intra (instructions will be completed in February 2017).
