International business student Babar has found a job during his studies. At HAMK, he found the right studies for himself as well as the skills he needed in future working life. In Babar’s opinion, Valkeakoski is a great place to focus on studies and teachers support studies in just the right way.
Who am I?
My name is Babar Lone and I am a 2nd year student of International Business at HAMK Häme University of Applied Sciences (Valkeakoski Campus). I started my studies after a long working experience in Sales & Marketing and logistics field. So I had an idea what are my missing skills and education are. 
The job and dreams came true already during my studies
I must say that with a well design degree program and the best teachers I was able to learn new professional skills quickly which helped me to get a permanent and full-time job in Helsinki. At the start of my journey in HAMK, I could only imagine that after completing the degree programme I would be able to get a job. But my dream came true already during my studies. I started applying for a work placement last year when I was attending summer a summer course in Design Factory. I got a work placement in Helsingin Bussiliikenne Oy last year, so I got a chance to show them my language and professional skills, and how hard working, punctual and positive I am. They confirmed my permanent job in January 2021 after evaluating my performance in the work placement period.
Studying projects benefits working life
I think I managed to land a job because of our study assignments. We have had group assignments like Business Plan, Customer Journey Plan, Segmentation assignment, individual assignments like growing expertise in Excel, Power Point, Budgeting and Accounting, and events like International Day, Asta Fair project, Bitfest 2020, without forgetting the free-time activities like parties etc. Moreover the natural, calm environment of Valkeakoski helps students focus and teachers are very supportive and friendly with the students, especially when we need their help and guidance.
