Did you know that Finland is one of Europe’s top three game developer countries? Surprisingly, the Finnish gaming sector is one of the fastest expanding in the global market. There are many Esports organizations in Finland with teams and professional players, but one of the most successful is drawing our attention.
ENCE is one of Finland’s most prominent and well-known Esports organizations. The organization has the most successful teams and players in titles including Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, PUBG: Battlegrounds, StarCraft II, and NHL 22. Jingkang Gao, a HAMK University student, had the incredible opportunity to cooperate with ENCE.
Could you introduce yourself – who are you?
My name is Jingkang Gao, 20 years old from China. I start to study in Hamk UAS since 2020. Now I am a third-year international business student.
How you started working with ENCE?
I saw a job posting pushed by my teacher on Yammer, and many students forwarded it to me afterwards. I learned that ENCE needed someone who was familiar with Chinese social media and had some knowledge of games, and I felt that I fit the bill. So, after thinking about it for a while, I immediately sent an application to the CEO of ENCE.
What are your responsibilities?
My main role at ENCE is to run the Chinese social media – Weibo – and to liaise with ENCE’s Chinese partners. But my main responsibility is still on social media.
How does it feel for you working with ENCE?
My experience at ENCE has been very rewarding. It is the largest eSports club in Finland, and everything here is so professional. Even though there are not that many employees, everyone is very professional and friendly. When I first came to the company, all the employees were very patient with me and guided me through my work. This made my work go smoothly afterwards.
How has the work impacted your studies?
In fact, I think I can balance work and study at the moment. Because I am now a junior in college, my schedule is not as tight. As well, I started my job in the summer, so I don’t have to worry too much about my studies.
Would you like to continue working with ENCE or at least in this industry?
The eSports industry has always been one of the fields I like to dabble in, and I’m very interested in it. I would love to continue working at ENCE, it’s a very professional and promising company. They have become the biggest eSports club in Finland in a very short period of time and they have had a very good year.
Any other comments about working with ENCE?
This was my first internship, and since I came to college straight out of high school, all I lacked was work experience. And ENCE was a very good starting point for me, and it opened my eyes to a lot of things. Previously I only learned about eSports clubs on live streaming platforms, but now I have the opportunity to actually stay and work at ENCE, which is my pressure but at the same time it’s my motivation, and I believe I can do this job well because I believe in my own abilities.
Jingkang Gao appears to have had a genuinely beneficial and memorable experience at ENCE. Since he has expressed an interest in Esports and the game sector, there is no question that he will continue his career with ENCE.
