How to download an e-book
If you want to download an e-book on your own device, this is how to do it on Ebsco E-books or ProQuest Ebook Central.
1. Download Adobe Digital Editions
Most library e-books have been copyright protected. To read them, you need Adobe Digital Editions programme. Find it online and download from Adobe homepage.
2. Create a personal account
Create a personal account to the e-book provider (Ebsco, Ebook Central) and login. Now you will be able to download the e-book of your choice or part of it.
If you want to read your e-book on more than one device, you also need and Adobe ID. You can create it beforehand on Adobe homepage (account.adobe.com) or when you first open Digital Editions on your device.
If you read e-books on one device only, you do not need an Adobe ID.
3. Download your e-book
Find the e-book you want to download and choose:
- Ebsco: Download
- Ebook Central: Download book
4. Open your e-book
Open Digital Editions. Your e-book should be available on the bookshelf. If it is not, you need to find the downloaded file:
- File > Add to library
- Locate the file. It is usually in Downloads folder. The file has been named as URLLink.acsm
- Choose Open, and your e-book will download on the reader programme.
