International Business<\/a> student and soon to be graduated Maksim Karpelson was rewarded with The\u00a0<\/span>Distinguished Student of the Year 2020<\/span>\u00a0acknowledgment! Read Maksim\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>thoughts about his eventful journey at HAMK.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Studying in a supportive community<\/h4>\n

And now this\u00a0<\/span>very moment has come!<\/span>\u00a0I am filled with different feelings: joy (I was goi<\/span>ng through this for four years<\/span>), satisfaction (I achieved wha<\/span>t I wanted so much), pride (I s<\/span>tudied with the best professors<\/span>\u00a0and students<\/span>) and a little\u00a0<\/span>of\u00a0<\/span>sadness (this magical period is over).\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

From the very first moment at the University, I was surrounded by the care and attention<\/span>\u00a0of<\/span>\u00a0my classmates and teachers.\u00a0<\/span>I am happy to remember\u00a0<\/span>all my study from\u00a0<\/span>the first week<\/span>s.<\/span> We all went to the camp together and this friendship, solidarity and mutual assistance existed throughout the study. I was particularly surprised by the attitude of the teachers towards us, the students.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

I came from a country where power distance is high. Such as the teacher is always right, to a country where <\/span>p<\/span>ower distance is three times less such as how discussion with teachers is welcome. Specifically to HAMK University, where there is no distance between teacher and student, but there is<\/span>\u00a0a friendship and mutual respect<\/span>, support and care. <\/span><\/p>\n

Memorable times at HAMK<\/span><\/h4>\n

At what other University can lessons take place on the train (Amazing Business train) or in another country (studying<\/span> trips to Kosovo and Croatia). T<\/span>he University gave me not only a great education, but also\u00a0<\/span>a variety of additional possibilities<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0I took up the study of three\u00a0<\/span>more\u00a0<\/span>languages:\u00a0<\/span>Finnish, Spanish and German and<\/span>\u00a0the ability to practi<\/span>ce these languages directly with my classmates, who are<\/span>\u00a0native speakers,<\/span> made my learning faster and more exciting.<\/span><\/p>\n

I have a h<\/span>uge respect<\/span> to<\/span> HAVO<\/a> in Valkeakoski and other student organizations in different cities of Finland.<\/span> They are making our study process so much more fun and t<\/span>hese memories are especi<\/span>ally vivid now<\/span>. I also want to e<\/span>xpress my gratitude to the University for the opportunity to study in another country on an exchange basis<\/a><\/span> for Double Degree. I will miss my home-university <\/span>HAMK,<\/span>\u00a0especially<\/span>\u00a0the family atmosphere and care that I was always surrounded by.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The University\u00a0<\/span>allowed me<\/span> to challenge<\/span> myself in different areas of business. Such as when we worked on joint projects<\/span>, we<\/span> had to do everything. From<\/span>\u00a0creating<\/span>\u00a0a business plan to finding clients and a venue<\/span>s and most important income. With the great support of our teachers we always succeed<\/span>ed<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These real projects helped<\/span>\u00a0me\u00a0<\/span>to understand the essence o<\/span>f a business, my own<\/span>\u00a0weaknesses, strengths and interests. Working on the Thesis\u00a0<\/span>was so fascinating for<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>me that now I am happy to work in the\u00a0<\/span>same\u00a0<\/span>field, <\/span>Digital marketing. I wish for everyone to find themselves and their<\/span>\u00a0own interests. I wish everyone fulfillment of unexpected<\/span>\u00a0desires, as it happened for me this year!\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
