One of our most used online services is sanakirja.fi<\/a>. It not only offers you dozens of dictionaries and a safe translator but also helps you with your Finnish studies. Here are ten tips on how to make most of sanakirja.fi during your Finnish studies.<\/p>\n

1. Start with MOT Finnish Learner\u2019s Dictionary<\/h3>\n

If you are just beginning your studies in Finnish, you might find the Finnish learner\u2019s dictionary quite useful. It explains Finnish basic vocabulary in easy-to-understand sentences, which are often accompanied by usage examples, colloquial synonyms, and antonyms.<\/p>\n

2. Create a dictionary group<\/h3>\n

Do you use the same languages or dictionaries often? Create your own dictionary group<\/a> and search multiple dictionaries at the same time. Open the Dictionaries tab and click the book icon.<\/p>\n

3. Utilize inflection tables<\/h3>\n

You can search by using word inflections, e.g. \u201coppia<\/em>\u201d. Use the book icon next to the word to open its inflection table<\/a>.<\/p>\n

To hear how the word is pronounced, click the audio button next to it.<\/p>\n

5. Find concrete examples<\/h3>\n

Sanakirja.fi offers plenty of concrete examples of the word use. The examples are up to date and in common use.<\/p>\n

6. Find phrases, idioms, place and resident names<\/h3>\n

Sanakirja.fi provides you with Finnish phrases and idioms complete with usage examples. You can also use it to check what the residents are called in a certain place, like Helsinki (helsinkil\u00e4inen).<\/p>\n
