Welcome to HAMK library, new student! As part of your higher education studies, you will become familiar with professional and scientific information and its sources, with access to a variety of information retrieval tools other than Google. But before we go there, here are five basic tips that will help you get started.<\/p>\n

1. HAMK Finna provides access to library collections<\/h3>\n

Our online library is called HAMK Finna<\/a>. HAMK Finna offers access to library collections: books and e-books, magazines and articles, databases and theses. HAMK Finna also includes information about open access books, articles and learning materials.<\/p>\n

2. E-resources are accessible with HAMK user credentials<\/h3>\n

You do not need a library card to access our e-collections: HAMK user credentials are your key to all the e-resources provided by the library. Your username and password for digital library collections are the same ones you use to log into Hamk email and HAMK learning environment.<\/p>\n

Always use the links in HAMK Finna to access our e-collections, for they direct you to the correct logon service. HAMK ID does not work when using the login links on the database homepage.<\/p>\n

3. Trade information in campus libraries and online<\/h3>\n

When you visit the campus, check out our printed collections: books and magazines. Each campus library focuses on the educational fields of the campus. Printed collections are supplemented by an extensive digital collection. You can access the digital collection from our onlie library HAMK Finna<\/a>.<\/p>\n

4. Get familiar with your field by reading trade magazines<\/h3>\n

Trade magazines and journals are an easy way to get familiar with your new profession. In the library, you will find trade journals both in print and digital format. Our digital journals are mainly available remotely, which means that you can read them online, regardless of time and place. Flipster<\/a> offers you access to several digital trade journals, while Browzine<\/a> is the window to our entire journal collection. To read the journals and articles, use HAMK credentials to login.<\/p>\n

5. Attend library training sessions<\/h3>\n

By attending library training sessions, you will get familiar with the most important sources of information in your field of study. You will also learn to find and evaluate professional and scientific information, and much more. These skills will benefit you not only throughout your studies, but also later in working life.<\/p>\n
