class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW61851913 BCX9\">\u201d<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW61851913 BCX9\"> (<\/span><\/span><a class=\"Hyperlink SCXW61851913 BCX9\" SCXW61851913 BCX9\"> related<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW61851913 BCX9\"> opportunities and challenges they <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW61851913 BCX9\">bring to the industry<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW61851913 BCX9\"> and training <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW61851913 BCX9\">in a<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW61851913 BCX9\"> region<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW61851913 BCX9\"> or country<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW61851913 BCX9\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW203725019 BCX9\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW203725019 BCX9\">There are undoubtedly several ways to <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW203725019 BCX9\">proceed for foresight work. <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW203725019 BCX9\">One of the most practical ones is one used at South-West Finland Foresight <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW203725019 BCX9\">A<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW203725019 BCX9\">cademy and in which Finnish teachers of different professions are invited to train themselves in. <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW203725019 BCX9\">In Finland the training<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW203725019 BCX9\"> is <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW203725019 BCX9\">supported by the National <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW203725019 BCX9\">A<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW203725019 BCX9\">gency of Education<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW203725019 BCX9\"> and <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW203725019 BCX9\">its aim is <\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW203725019 BCX9\" lang=\"EN\" xml:lang=\"EN\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW203725019 BCX9\">described <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW203725019 BCX9\">as \u201c<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW203725019 BCX9\">to strengthen the foresight skills of teaching and guidance staff by familiarizing them with the future <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW203725019 BCX9\">of work<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW203725019 BCX9\">, the methods of foresight competence, sustainable development and the effects of technology and <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW203725019 BCX9\">digitalization<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW203725019 BCX9\"> on education\u2026 t<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW203725019 BCX9\">he participants will receive concrete tools for planning and<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW203725019 BCX9\"> implementation of <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW203725019 BCX9\">future-oriented teaching<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW203725019 BCX9\">\u201d<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW203725019 BCX9\"> (<\/span><\/span><a class=\"Hyperlink SCXW203725019 BCX9\" an international setting as a collaboration project between the tertiary forestry studies of Universidad de <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW54974944 BCX9\">Tra<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW54974944 BCX9\">b<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW54974944 BCX9\">ajo<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW54974944 BCX9\"> del Uruguay (DGETP-<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW54974944 BCX9\">UTU) and <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW54974944 BCX9\">H\u00e4me<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW54974944 BCX9\"> University of Applied Sciences (HAMK), in tight collaboration with the Association of Forestry producers of Uruguay (Sociedad de <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW54974944 BCX9\">Productores<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW54974944 BCX9\">Forestales<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW54974944 BCX9\"> (SPF), as the collaboration between education institutions and world of work is a paramount ingredient of a successful foresight process.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<figure First, in reviewing the <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW128572357 BCX9\">pedagogical<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW128572357 BCX9\"> and curricular foundations of forestry education at UTU. Second, in creating the formal link between education and the world of work in an organized framework, by creating a Technical Committee in Forestry (Mesa T\u00e9cnica <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW128572357 BCX9\">Forestal<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW128572357 BCX9\">), between the key educational actors and the industry representative associations. Th<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW128572357 BCX9\">ese<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW128572357 BCX9\"> steps were taken during the three<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW128572357 BCX9\">&#8211;<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW128572357 BCX9\">year project \u201cTalents and Skills for the Agroforestry <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW128572357 BCX9\">Sector in Uruguay\u201d financed by the Inter-American<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW128572357 BCX9\">Development Bank (IADB). The project also created and consolidated the partnership between HAMK and UTU and laid the ground for this type of efficient and smooth collaboration the <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW128572357 BCX9\">ex<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW128572357 BCX9\">e<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW128572357 BCX9\">cution<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW128572357 BCX9\"> of a cross-border foresight process training and implementation requires. The project is financed by Team Finland Knowledge <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW128572357 BCX9\">fund <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW128572357 BCX9\">of the <\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW128572357 BCX9\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW128572357 BCX9\">National Agency of Education<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW128572357 BCX9\">of <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW128572357 BCX9\">Finland and<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW128572357 BCX9\" lang=\"EN\" xml:lang=\"EN\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW128572357 BCX9\"> is expected to increase the competence for implementing and training in foresight processes for tertiary education both for HAMK and UTU. Its application onto the forestry sector was a natural choice given the collaboration between the two institutions in the field, and the strategic importance of forestry in both countries. The collaborative methodology is divided into three main stages, and the participants, once divided into groups, are guided through the process, step by step, by HAMK and <\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW182040249 BCX9\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW182040249 BCX9\">South-West Finland Foresight Academy experts. The theoretical framework of Participatory Action Research (PAR) lays the foundation for sustainability in the project.
